Abstract

The use of the technique multimaterial moulding has been growing in the past couple of years. The growth is driven by the possibility to integrate more functions/features in one part. Depending on the type of business different demands are the major reason to use the technique.

Automotive industry are typically interested in increasing the performance of one part combined with lower cost compared with old solutions. Sporting gods could be improved with antislip features by integrating TPE as one of the material as well as knifes and screwdrivers could become more safe and better.

In mobile phones two- or three-shoot moulding give covers more than one colour with integrated Irda lens included. Combining a material possible to metallize with a material not possible to metallize both decorative- and functions-features could be achieved.

In medical applications different penetration membranes have been developed using the two-shoot technique.
