Tanya Arp-Nielsen is Business Development Manager for Injection Solutions at Bang & Olufsen Medicom with responsibility for business and marketing strategies for this Business Unit. She has been with the company since August 2007.
Tanya has experience in the medical device industry from her prior occupation at Medtronic Denmark A/S, where she worked as a Product Specialist.
Moreover, Tanya holds a Bachelor of Science in Export Engineering and is a registered Medical Device Sales Consultant.

Abstract

Recent development has allowed for an introduction of advanced and complex drug formulations, requiring injection in order to be absorbed by the body. However, the development within injection devices has not been able to keep up the pace with the development of the drug formulations, leaving a still growing number of patients to administer their treatment by themselves by use of unhandy and complicated devices.

The market trend shows that the rapidly expanding segment of large molecule biotech drugs is more developed than the auto injectors which are often used for these drugs. Moreover, the market trend is also a move towards cost effective settings, whereby patients are moving from the hospitals to their homes, thereby an increasing number patients is taking self administered medication. Thus, the end-users need easy to use and safe injection devices and the market trends show that this is a continuous market development.

A new product has been introduced on the market: LEVA® from Bang & Olufsen Medicom, a next generation auto injector. The product takes the end-user perspective and strives at giving back quality of life to the patient.
