Biography

Dr. Dirk Sobotta is Product Manager Daikyo Crystal Zenith® at West Pharmaceutical Services

He studied biology and received his PhD from the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, Germany in 1999. After several years of business experience at major Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical companies, he joined West Pharmaceutical Services in 2007 as Product Manager Daikyo Crystal Zenith®.

In his position he is responsible for all product management and business development activities related to Daikyo Crystal Zenith® based products.

Abstract

One of the most outstanding materials to derive containment systems from is Daikyo Crystal Zenith®, a material with a unique array of physical and chemical properties suited best to address and solve the challenges of biopharmaceutical drug makers. Hence, Daikyo Crystal Zenith® bulk storage containers, vials and prefillable syringes represent the ideal solution of the total life cycle containment of high value biopharmaceutical drugs. In particular, the unique combination of the COP based Crystal Zenith® material with Flurotec® laminated elastomeric components provide for unique syringe systems with highly reduced E&L profiles.

Additionally, the total elimination of silicone oil in the systems leads to significant reduction of protein aggregation occurrence, hence contributes to reduced reject rates. The presentation will focus on the unique properties of Crystal Zenith® bulk containers, vials and syringe systems and provide information about the newly available Ready-to-Use presentation for Daikyo Crystal Zenith® containment systems.
