The Seminar will focus on the topic "Devices for Drug Delivery " and will include both theory and practice with particular emphasis on materials, their properties, applications and relevant regulatory issues.

Introduction

When administrating pharmaceutical drugs by means of a delivery device, a number of factors have to be considered. It is essential to ensure an accurate delivered dose, as a prediction of the effect and side effects of drug action is dependent on the precise estimation of the given dose. The device and delivery system needs to be simple and safe and has to be manufactured in a consistent manner and meet regulatory expectations. Dosing to patients is dependent on device performance as well as patient interaction during inhalation, both of which influence the site of deposition which can be of interest for specific drug applications. This Seminar will focus on manufacturing and material selection for primary packaging as well as giving an overview of the current state of art of the dry powder inhaler segment.

See the programme for a complete list of papers.
